UT Southwestern Medical Center researchers claimed to have found the hormone that works through the brain’s reward system to weaken cravings for sweets and alcohol.

The hormone, Fibroblast Growth Factor 21 (FGF21), is induced in the body by tremendously cold temperatures, abrupt changes in diet as well as in carbohydrate consumption. During the study, health researchers found that mice with higher levels of FGF21 showed less preference for sweetened and alcohol-laced water.

An annual report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics has unveiled that the rate of twin births in America was at an all-time high in 2014 and the rate for triplets, quadruplets and more was the lowest in the last 20 years.

In 2014, nearly four million babies were born and out of them, more than 135,000 were twins, which means around one in every 29 babies was twin. Such was not the case in 1980 when only one in every 53 babies was a twin.

Over six out of 10 drug overdose deaths were due to narcotics, including prescription painkillers and heroin. Since 2000, nearly half a million people have died from drug overdoses. CDC director Dr. Tom Frieden has found the jump in number of deaths due to drug overdoses as startling.
