Researchers have created a new metal by infusing magnesium with ceramic silicon carbide nanoparticles. The infusion resulted in the formation of a high-strength super metal which is extremely light in weight. The metal was developed in the labs of Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Sciences of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). The researchers were able to create this metal by using an innovative way to disperse and stabilize nanoparticles in molten metal.

Jackie Collins, author of "Hollywood Wives" and many other novels, died on Saturday at the age of 77. Collins was struggling with breast cancer. She died as a result of the disease in Los Angeles, publicist Melody Korenbrot told the Associated Press.

The LA City Council has voted in the favor of a motion to draft legislative language to ban the use of smokeless tobacco products in all the baseball fields and other athletic venues in Los Angeles. The Dodgers have come up with a report in which they have taken side of the council’s motion.
The motion was introduced in June by Councilman Jose Huizar. It was passed 14-0. The motion calls for call for the city attorney to draft an ordinance in which all the venues present in the city, including Dodger Stadium, should be included.

According to Councilman Jose Huizar, smokeless tobacco will be banned in public school facilities, public parks, private school facilities, Dodger Stadium, Staples arena and wherever organized sports are arranged.
